GETTING CHILDREN WITH EXCEPTIONALITIES ON THE RIGHT PATH

At Achieving Academic Success, Judith Merl provides a comprehensive and individualized approach to learning. Her goal is to promote independent learners who understand how they learn and who can advocate for themselves. Judith establishes a safe environment where she teaches strategies and skills the child needs to be successful. She provides parents and educators information and insight to support their child’s exceptional needs at home and in school.

Picture this: A backpack with petrified Cheetos, last semester’s homework that didn't get turned in, and a planner with blank pages. Does this sound familiar? How about struggles with homework, whether it’s getting started, completing it or both? Even if your child wants to do his homework, he can’t. He didn’t take the notes on which the assignment is based. In fact, he can tell you very little of what he learned in school that day.

If this is your child, he may be struggling with issues such as Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), executive function deficits (difficulties in planning, organization and time management), auditory or visual processing deficits to name a few exceptionalities. No matter the cause of your child’s learning difficulties, as an educational therapist, Judith can help your child become successful. Contact Achieving Academic Success

When our daughter was in second grade she struggled with math. She had difficulty counting backwards from 11. She would put her head in her arms and not try. Judith made learning math fun. She was so creative. Our daughter is doing so well at school now. Thank you Judith.

Dear Judith,
Just wanted to reach out to you, thank you for working with David so far. I feel your combination of soft spoken, loving, encouragement is exactly the right recipe for David. You made him feel success at every corner. The final proof of your connection with him, is that he asked why you can’t be his teacher. I know after we’ve given him some time to show us if this IDEC program is for him or not, we will work together again. I would gladly recommend you to anyone.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

When my son was in elementary school he would become overwhelmed in his classes and would shut down. Although reluctant at first to see Judith, her compassion and creativety won him over. She taught him skills and strategies he used for his school work. His anxiety diminished and he was able to succeed. We are fortunate to have found her.
